Mismatch Between Graduates’ Skills And Available Jobs -acting Vice Chancellor Of KsTU

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Prof Mike Agbesi Acheampong has attributed the high rate of graduate unemployment in the country to lack of people with relevant skills needed for the available jobs. He said the graduate unemployment situation in the country is not necessarily due to lack of jobs but the mismatch between the available jobs and the products churned out from the country’s institutions.

13TH CONGREGATION CEREMONY HELD AT KsTU

The 13th Congregation ceremony of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has been held amongst pomp and pageantry. The ceremony had in attendance Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (Education Minister), Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV the Apagyahene representing Otumfuo Osei Tutu, Prof. Ben Baffoe-Bonnie (KsTU Council Chairman), Prof. Asiamah Yeboah (the Interim Vice Chancellor) and other prominent traditional rulers among others.

IDCE HOLDS SPECIAL CONGREGATION

The Institute of Distance and Continuing Education (IDCE) of the Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has organised a special congregation for graduands of the Technician programmes who completed their studies in 2018.

The graduation ceremony which had 171 graduands awarded with different certificates was brief but colourful. It had in attendance the Interim Vice Chancellor of KsTU Prof. Asiamah Yeboah, the Acting Registrar Mr. Abraham A. Agyei, the Director of IDCE Dr. Alfred Sarbah, as well as other deans and directors of the University.

PASS Organises a Two-Day Sensitisation And Capacity Building Workshop

Under the auspices of the Partnership for Applied Sciences (PASS), a two-day sensitisation and capacity-building workshop aimed at “Transforming all Teaching Modules into Competency-Based Training” has been organised for the faculty members of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU). The two-day workshop which has been held between 21st and 22nd March, 2018 on the campus of KsTU)seeks to equip all the teaching staff with the relevant skills to change course contents and the mode of delivery to be in line with the competency-based training method.

KsTU Matriculates Fresh Students

Freshmen and women numbering over five thousand have gained admission into Kumasi Technical University for the 2017/2018 academic year. Matriculation ceremony has therefore been held for such students on 27th October, 2017 to formally welcome and induct the junior members into the University community. The ceremony was the maiden one since the attainment of a Technical University status.

Partnership for Applied Sciences Project Outdoored in KsTU

Kick-off meeting on Partnership for Applied Sciences (PASS) project has taken place in Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) in October 2017. This was a sequel to a previous one held in Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) in the same month to start the DAAD/MIWF sponsored programme of building the capacity of staff of the two institutions. The funding for this project which will run for a four-year (2017 -2021) period has budgetary allocation of 200,000 Euros.

KsTU Shines In China as a Staff Receives Distinguished Student Award

One member of staff of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Mr. Adjei-Saforo Kwafo Edmund has made the University proud by winning the covetous award as the Distinguished Foreign Student. The annual award was offered by the Peoples’ Republic of China through China’s Ministry of Education. Mr. Adjei-Saforo was adjudged the overall best student in the School of International Education in 2017 after winning the highly competitive award in 2016 which was based on the Lanzhou Jiaotong University’s benchmark recognition.
