Creativity at Work, Launch of Annual Fashion Week by the Faculty of Creative Arts

It is widely agreed that all things around us can be used to create fashion and hence students from the Fashion Department have made use of this statement. The Fashion Design and Textiles Studies Department under the Faculty of Creative Arts and Technology has launched its annual Fashion Week event, organized on Monday, 24th April, 2017. The final year students of both Higher National Diploma as well as the Bachelor of Technology students spearheaded the event this year.

The event was graced by the Regional Head of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, a representative from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, coupled with External Assessors of the Department, Deans, and Directors from the various Faculties and Institutes.

The Head of Department, who also doubles as the Dean of the Faculty in the person of Rev. Dr. Timothy Crentsil in his welcome address, encouraged the students to put into practice all that had been imbibed into them.  He appealed that the Department needed an extra workshop to enhance teaching and learning.

The Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mike Agbesi Acheampong who chaired the occasion, expressed his appreciation to the Faculty and the Department for sustaining the “fashion show” over the years and duly encouraged the continuing students to strive to create better designs and ensure that they dress in humility as the Bible admonishes us.

The Ministerial Representatives as well as the external assessors delivered various speeches. External Assessors present in the person of, Dr. Kemevor and Mr. Adamtey admonished the students to be creative in modesty as well as ensuring that their designs are wearable by all caliber of persons as they strive to maintain professionalism. The Regional Head of the Ministry of Tourism in her speech extolled the need for fashion and creativity in this modern world.

Students had the opportunity to exhibit some of the designs they had created and most of the guests agreed that they were exquisite.
