Vice-Chancellor Inspects Ultra-Modern Laboratory Project At Adako Jachie

The Vice-Chancellor of Kumasi Technical University (KsTU), Ing. Prof Osei-Wusu Achaw on Tuesday June 22, 2021, paid a working visit to the Adako Jachie campus of the Technical University to inspect the ongoing turn-key Ghana-China (AVIC International) project on the ‘Rehabilitation and Upgrading of Equipment in Polytechnics and Technical Institutes (Including Technical Universities)’.

The project is being executed to improve the skills and capacities of Ghanaian youth for employability, especially, products from the TVET institutions. From the project, KsTU stands to benefit which includes the construction of a huge state-of-the-art laboratory with the necessary tools and equipment. The nearly-completed project at the Adako Jachie campus is about 95% complete and it will be fully completed by the end of July 2021. The project, when completed, will include fully equipped Mechanical Engineering workshops (automobile and welding workshops), Civil Engineering workshop as well as Electrical and Electronic Engineering workshop among others.

The laboratory workshops will be operated with Computer Numeric Control (CNC) machines which have already arrived with the other equipment. The CNC is a system that uses computer commands for control of the machines through the use of some software. A significant aspect of this project is that all the tools and equipment to be installed in these workshops are state-of-the-art, high industry-standard, and thus will ensure that students who graduate from the KsTU have industry-ready skills.

Accompanying the Vice-Chancellor were the Pro Vice-Chancellor; Engr. Prof. Mike Agbesi Acheampong, Director of Finance Mr James O. Brobbey, Librarian Dr. Kwabena Osei Kuffour, Internal Auditor Mr. Edward Ansah and other high-ranking officials of the University.
