Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) has presented Certificates of Completion to some students and staff who successfully finished Level 1 of the Chinese Language Proficiency Programme (HSK 1). The colourful ceremony was held at the University's Council Chamber.

The three-month programme, which ran from October to December 2025, covered HSK Level 1, an internationally recognised beginner level of Mandarin Chinese proficiency. The blended approach enabled participants to benefit from in-person engagement as well as virtual learning.

A total of 76 students from the Department of Food Technology and over 100 students from the Hotel, Catering and Institutional Management (HCIM) programme participated in the training. Five staff members also undertook the course.

Speaking at a certificate presentation ceremony, the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Ing. Prof. Abena Agyeiwaa Obiri-Yeboah congratulated the participants for successfully completing the course. She highlighted the relevance of learning Chinese in today’s interconnected world. “It is a real advantage learning the language. We must find ways to coexist and collaborate globally,” she stated, encouraging participants to take full advantage of such international opportunities.

The Director of International Affairs and Institutional Linkages, Prof. Sarfo Mensah, noted that the training was organised in partnership with AVIC International Training. He explained that the initiative aligns with the University’s broader vision of equipping students and staff with globally relevant skills and strengthening academic partnerships.
